The Fashion Revolution Week with Stanley/Stella

SustainabilityThis week, Stanley/Stella and its Dealers are proud to be taking part in Fashion Revolution Week, a global awareness raising campaign calling for greater transparency in the fashion industry.
Transparency is fundamental to us
Openly sharing information related to our supply chain, sourcing, pricing and planning has helped us build long-term, supportive and mutually beneficial relationships with our partner factories, farmers and suppliers.
We took the step in 2018 of publishing the names and contact details of all the partner factories we work with – currently 5 in Bangladesh and 1 in China. Because we believe that accountability can only be assured if this information - often considered confidential in our industry - is open, shared and public.
Earth Day, falling in the middle of Fashion Revolution Week (22 April), is also a timely reminder for us to think about how we act and work to support the planet’s biodiversity and ecosystems.
Sustainability guides everything we do. At Stanley/Stella, our mission is to only work with sustainable materials that are grown and produced in ways that will not harm the environment. Therefore, we work with organic cotton, natural fibres, sustainable materials like TencelÒ and recycled materials including recycled polyester.
We also carefully monitor water treatment throughout the production process, and each of our partner factories is equipped with an Effluent Treatment Plant.
Since day one, we have chosen to work with organic cotton. Grown from non-GMO seeds, organic cotton is cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. It ensures better health for farmers as well as the soil, while also using far less water than conventional cotton farming.
It’s a sobering thought that 16% of the world’s insecticides and 6% of the world’s pesticides are used on conventional cotton plantations, which only account for 2.4% of the world’s cultivated land.
We believe that to improve the health of farmers worldwide along with the health of planet Earth, using organic cotton is the only way forward.
Annual Social Report
Every year, we issue a Social Report, which details our business processes, source materials and environmental footprint, and lays out how collaboration works between our HQ in Brussels, our office in Bangladesh, our partner factories and the Fair Wear Foundation.
We believe that greater transparency in the fashion industry will lead to improved conditions for farmers and factory workers worldwide and a much healthier planet.
